Ideas for the Controlling Person

Trying to orchestrate other people or control a situation that is not yours to control, increases fear. This is true even though your goal is to feel safer. Let go of the need to know everything and control everything.

Soften your harsh inner critic. If things don’t work out as expected, it’s best to move from plan A to plan B, rather than keep harping on what didn’t go right.

"What If?" questions raise your fear level. Change those questions into statements. For example, instead of revving up your anxiety by worrying about,"What if I fail?" deal with that possibility.. You might say something like, "I would feel awful. But I would get right back to studying again for that promotion exam."
